Running a Business or a Marathon

I have cheered on many marathons over the years, but never been that into running. So I am only imagining this comparison of running a business to running a marathon. Maybe there is a better metaphor, but I know that in both scenarios the following self talk is paramount.

This is hard, but won’t you feel accomplished when you are successful?

Keep going! What rewards come easy in life?

Take care of yourself along the way. You have to breathe and refuel to get through this.

You cannot do this alone.

Be confident. And humble.

I absolultely love interior design which makes running the business not so bad. We have a good “product to sell” and although the process can require immense patience for our clients they love the result and get to enjoy it everyday.
